Aly Raisman just gave a sweet nod to her mom and to sustainable fashion. The Olympic gymnastics star wore her mother's 20-year-old purple dress to a very special wedding. And she shared the story with her followers on Instagram.

Raisman posted a photo of herself in the dress. She also shared a picture of her mother wearing the same dress two decades earlier. The throwback was simple, sweet, and full of meaning.

"My mom bought this dress about 20 years ago," Raisman wrote in the caption. "She wore it to my cousins Bat Mitzvah. 20 ish years later I wore it to @madison_kocian's wedding."

The wedding was a big one. Olympic gold medalist Madison Kocian tied the knot with her partner, Jack Hughes. And the guest list read like a gymnastics hall of fame.

Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez, Jordyn Wieber, Kyla Ross, and Maggie Nichols were all there. Coaches Cécile and Laurent Landi also showed up. It was a full reunion of gymnastics royalty.

Raisman and Kocian go way back. They were teammates on the legendary "Final Five" squad that dominated the 2016 Rio Olympics. They also competed together on the 2015 World Championship team.

This is not the first time Raisman has raided her mom's closet either. Back in 2017, she went viral for wearing a 1990s black-and-white floral gown for a night out. Fans loved it then for normalizing sentimental, budget-friendly, and eco-conscious fashion.

Ten years after Rio 2016, the medals are not what stand out most to Raisman. It is the people. The friends, the teammates, the community.

"I think one of the biggest impacts that I've gotten from my gymnastics career is so many amazing friendships and relationships," Raisman told Olympics.com. She gave the interview at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.

"Even being here in Milan, I'm seeing so many familiar faces," she said. "I just feel this really wonderful community and connection."

Raisman, now 31, owns three Olympic gold medals. She won team gold at London 2012 and Rio 2016. She also took home the floor title in London.

She also served as team captain for the Fierce Five and the Final Five. Both squads remain among Team USA's most celebrated. 

"The gymnastics community is very loyal and fiercely supportive," she said. "I'm very grateful for that and don't take that for granted. I am very proud to be a part of the gymnastics community."
