The Canadian Men’s squad proved that teamwork makes the dreamwork, as they clinched an unprecedented victory in the nation’s history.

“Canada’s senior men’s artistic gymnastics team made history on July 17^th by winning the gold medal in the team competition at the 2026 Pan American Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,” announced Gymcan, a national governing body for gymnastics in Canada.

The team composed of René Cournoyer, Xavier Olasz, William Émard, Félix Dolci and Jordan Carroll scored a total of 243.026. They finished ahead of Colombia (241.594) and the United States (235.961), winning the first-ever Pan Am men’s team title.

Carroll, 20, eased the team’s pace towards the gold-winning run. When it came down to the final routine, he was the last one of his team to compete on the pommel horse. The team needed more than 12.834 to win; the 20-year-old posted 14.266.

The 2026 Pan Am Games served as the qualifier for the 2026 World Championship, set for 17–25 October in Rotterdam, Netherlands. And with this outstanding victory, the Canadian Men’s team secured the top spot for the upcoming event.

But the victory extended beyond the team podium, as several Canadian athletes advanced to individual finals.

Additionally, the Canadian Senior Women’s team also didn’t fall behind. The roster made of Lia Redick, Lia-Monica Fontaine, Gabrielle Black, Aurélie Tran and Alyssa Guerrier-Calixte, posted a total score of 156.997, winning Bronze.

They’ll also be making a trip to Rotterdam, next to the gold-winning US team and Silver-winning Brazilian team.
