Oklahoma gymnastics star Faith Torrez is officially closing the chapter on her collegiate career. Following a national title run, Torrez shared an emotional farewell to the program as she prepares to accept the 2026 Honda Sports Award.

In her farewell post on Instagram, Faith Torrez reflected on her collegiate years and highlighted her journey from a young athlete to a Honda Sport Awardee. She talked about her connection to Oklahoma and the sport that made her who she is today.

She credits the University of Oklahoma for the experience that “turned it into something so much deeper” than she ever imagined. For her, Oklahoma was her home, and she expressed it by writing that “the place became my home in ways I didn’t even know I needed. It held me in the hardest moments, celebrated me in the best ones, and shaped me into the person I am today.”

Torrez notes that, though she learned a lot at Oklahoma, the final season with her amazing teammates was the “cherry on top,” as they deeply inspired her throughout.

She is “grateful for all the memories in and out of the gym,” emphasizing that it was never about the scores, the routines, or the wins, but rather about the growth that happened away from the spotlight.

She acknowledged her teammates' influence in her career by stating, “You are my sisters, my safe place, my constant.” She thanked everyone for not letting her stand alone during her lows and highs.

Torrez appreciated her coaches, KJ, Tom, Lou, Ash, and Jenn, for supporting her throughout her career, saying, “You gave me more than gymnastics, you gave me confidence, purpose, and a standard I will carry for the rest of my life.”

She also honored her roots, addressing “Thank you to my gym club for guiding,” and my coaches Jiani, Anna, and Yuj. She mentioned her special connection with @avasiegfeldt, with whom she arrived in Norman in 2022 and was each other's prime support for all four years.

Admiring their bond, she wrote, “I’m so proud of the person you’ve become and watching you grow since freshman year has been such a blessing.”

Lastly, she left with heartfelt gratitude towards her family for being her rock and biggest supporters and concluded her farewell post with a bittersweet note: “Onto the next chapter!”

Faith Torrez's legacy at Oklahoma

Torrez joined Oklahoma in 2022 as a freshman along with her teammate Ava Siegfeldt. Her collegiate debut was in 2023 in Las Vegas at Super 16, where she co-won the floor exercise routine.

She claimed her first individual title in Dickies Arena in 2024 at the NCAA Balance Beam National Championship with a score of 9.9625 in the semifinals. She scored her first "perfect 10" on floor during the Big 12 Championships in 2024.

Torrez marked her legacy to the highest during her final season in 2026, where she claimed her first all-rounder appearance of the year. She scored a massive 39.7875 and led Oklahoma to its eighth National Championship title. She will soon receive her 2026 Honda Sports Award in gymnastics, marking her legacy as an ultimate champion.
