Simone Biles completed her redemption at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She won three gold medals to cement her status as the sport's greatest. This victory followed a high-profile withdrawal from the Tokyo Games due to mental health concerns. Her return confirms her dominance on the world stage.

For years, Simone Biles stayed at the top of gymnastics. But at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she stepped away at a crucial stage, and everything changed. It left people wondering what would happen next.

Biles’ turning points come in the picture when she withdrew from multiple finals after dealing with the “twisties,” a condition that affects a gymnast’s sense of direction in the air. Instead of continuing, she decided to step back and said,

“I have to focus on my mental health.”

Even then, she finished the Games with a team silver and a bronze in balance beam, but the bigger story had already shifted away from medals.

Simone Biles entered elite gymnastics in 2011 and started making her mark within a couple of years, winning World Championship gold medals by 2013. By 2015, at the World Championships in Glasgow, she had already made history as the first woman to win three straight world all-around titles.

Her dominance continued at the Olympic level when she won four gold medals at the Rio 2016 Olympics, including team, all-around, vault, and floor exercise.

After the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Simone Biles took a break from competition to focus on her recovery and mental health. This break became one of the most talked-about parts of her career, especially because it came when she was doing the best in her career.

After the break, Biles slowly started training again and worked on getting her confidence back step by step before competing again.

Bile’s Return After the Setback

Biles' return did not come in one night, she slowly started training and began weekly therapy sessions to handle anxiety so that she could come back stronger in her comeback.

After stepping away from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Simone Biles returned to competition slowly. Her first major step back came at the 2023 U.S. Classic, where she competed in the All-Around and won gold, confirming she was back in competition form again.

That form carried into the World Championships in Belgium in October 2023, where she won four gold medals and reminded everyone why she belongs at the top. By June 2024, she was at the U.S. Olympic Trials and finished first, booking her spot for the next Olympics at just the right time.

With that momentum, at the Paris 2024 Olympics, she turned her qualification into results, winning 3 gold medals and 1 silver, in what many called her “Redemption Tour.” It marked a full competitive return after Tokyo and confirmed her position back at the highest level.

After 2024, Simone Biles has stayed away from competition, and with 2028 coming up, it’s still not clear if she will return. The question is simple: Will she compete again or not?
