Two-time Olympic champion Jade Carey officially announced her comeback to gymnastics in April 2026. The 25-year-old is now sharing glimpses from her training on social media.

Carey's last competitive appearance came at the Paris Olympics in 2024, helping Team USA win gold and claim an individual bronze medal on vault.

Cut to the present, the gymnast is not only showcasing her routine but signaling a strong return to the sport. Carey dropped a video from her training on Instagram with a caption.

“Back at it," she wrote.

The footage captured a fluid choreography with a full turn on one foot and then a transition on low beam. Carey demonstrated her flow and balance.

Following successful Olympic triumphs in 2020 and 2024, Carey focused on her NCAA gymnastics career with Oregon State in 2025 and finished fourth in the women's all-around.

She received the 2025 AAI Award, representing the nation's top senior female gymnast.

After wrapping up her collegiate career, she took a step back from competition and worked as a student assistant coach at Oregon State while completing her degree.

The year-long break meant that she missed the 2025 U.S. Championships and the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Additionally, she skipped the 2025 World Cup season.

In the Instagram video announcing her return, Carey reflected on her gymnastic journey and credited fans for their support.

“Gymnastics has always been at the centre of my life, and I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting," she stated.

The video featured moments from her career, which the World champion punctuated with a brief message.

"With that being said, I still have more to give, and I’m not done yet," she said. "See you soon."

The timing of her announcement and recent training footage suggest that she is preparing for the upcoming championships in October.

Could Carey compete in Rotterdam?

Following her announcement, Carey has already set her eyes on the upcoming American Classics event scheduled from June 26-28.

The U.S. Classic in Hartford, taking place in July, is another high-stakes meet that may serve as a platform before the U.S. Championship in August. She will aim to arrive with confidence to claim the spot in the championship.

Her ultimate destination for 2026 would be the World Artistic Gymnastics Championship in Rotterdam.

Notably, Carey has already hinted at LA 2028 as her final step. Taking place at home, the gymnast seems certain that it would be her last appearance on the Olympic stage.

"I just feel like it would definitely be a good way to go out," she told Scott Bregman for Olympics.com.

After a nearly two-year absence from elite competition, Carey seems set to showcase her skills and add to her legacy.
