Last weekend, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles took to Instagram to reveal that she had a health scare, which put her in the hospital. Her husband, NFL star Jonathan Owens, shared an update on the gymnastics legend's health status on social media recently.
On Friday, June 12, Owens posted a story on Instagram with a photo of Biles comfortably lying on a sofa in the balcony with a smile. The photo, which had a lake in the background, seemed to be taken by Owens himself.
“Views,” he captioned it with a couple of heart-eyed emojis.

Owen's update came after Biles herself shared a detailed statement on June 6 on social media about how she had a health scare just a few days prior.
She described it as “one of, if not the scariest experiences of [her] life.”
Biles also mentioned that her husband wasn’t with her at the time, which had made things worse. Owens was taking part in NFL offseason practice sessions with the Indianapolis Colts in Indy after signing a one-year contract extension earlier this year.
“I've been in bed resting this week, I'll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers. Loooovveeee y'all,” Biles remarked in her story.
The 29-year-old's resting heart rate at the time was 126 bpm, which isn’t considered normal (60-100 bpm). Owens' update should put fans at ease.
This isn't the first time Biles has opened up about her health struggles.
Simone Biles Has Had a Fair Share of Health Issues
Simone Biles had never shied away from sharing her health struggles with the world despite receiving backlash from certain sections of people for it. As one of the best athletes in the world, she could have easily made the call to close off her personal life from everyone else, but it isn’t the case.
In 2021, during the Tokyo Olympics, Biles made the decision not to compete in the finals of multiple gymnastics events, to leave medals on the table. She decided against competing to take care of her mental health, and later on, her condition became known as “twisties.”
After that, she underwent therapy to navigate the negative effects of her conditions, and continues with it in 2026.
Biles is currently on a break from elite gymnastics to recover from the physical and mental rigors of competing at the Paris Olympics in 2024. She won four medals at the games, including three golds in team, all-around, and vault events, and one silver in floor exercise.
While there is no confirmation if and when she will return to competitive action, the Olympics in LA are just over two years away.
