UCLA gymnast Jordan Chiles traded her competition attire for a black blazer at the inaugural Student-Athlete Awards Banquet.
The Olympian and her collegiate teammates brought style and glamor to the blue carpet event.
On May 18, UCLA hosted the banquet at Pauley Pavilion, titled "A Night of Championship Excellence." The grand stage honoured the outstanding achievements of UCLA athletes.
Making the night more special, Jordan received the prestigious Florence Griffith Joyner Award from the UCLA Black Alumni Association.
On Instagram, @uclagymnastics shared a glimpse of the night, highlighting the athletes' blue carpet looks. They traded their competitive garbs for high-fashion, with each outfit getting its own spotlight.
While most attendees were spotted in a vibrant mix of colours, Jordan Chiles opted for a bold and black outfit. She paired her black blazer with a bowtie and sleek sunglasses. The Olympic gold medalist went home with the "Best Dressed" award, as voted by her peers.
Will Chiles Compete at LA 2028?
Jordan Chiles is one of the most celebrated athletes in the gymnastics world. While she is succeeding in business and philanthropy, a significant question remains about her role at the LA Olympics.
Chiles might be tempted by the opportunity to win gold in the same city where she finished her collegiate career.
In a recent interview with SportsCenter, Chiles insisted that the upcoming Olympics have grabbed her attention.
“28 is always in my head. It’s not something that I don’t think about,” she said.
She also addressed the question in another interview. Speaking to NBC Sports, Chiles reflected on her success away from gymnastics before talking about LA 2028.
The 25-year-old highlighted her priorities for an appearance at the event.
“I think about it all the time,” she stated. “It’s really more about physically for me than it is mentally. So we’ll see what happens.”
Fellow Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles is also biding her time. With both athletes teasing an appearance, Team USA might enter LA 2028 with two of its best gymnasts.
Whatever Chiles chooses, it will be entirely on her own terms.
