Jordyn Wieber is stepping down as head coach of Arkansas Gymnastics. The Olympic gold medalist is leaving the Razorbacks after seven seasons, and Arkansas has already named her successor.

The Olympic gold medalist announced her decision to step down on Tuesday, April 28. Wieber had joined her husband and Arkansas Razorbacks’ athletic director Hunter Yurachek in a press conference where she officially confirmed the news.

The 30-year-old said the decision wasn’t easy, but she wanted to give more time to her and Brooks’ daughter, Gigi, who was born in June last year.

In the press release sent out by the University of Arkansas, Wieber said, “Serving as Head Coach of Arkansas Gymnastics has been an honor. I’m deeply grateful to our student-athletes, staff, and Razorback fans for an unforgettable journey," she said as per the press release from the University of Arkansas.

“With a heavy, but full heart and immense pride in what we have accomplished, I’m stepping away from athletics to focus on my family and other passions. I’m excited for what’s ahead and will forever be cheering on the Razorbacks!”

During her time at the helm, Arkansas Gymnastics won the NCAA national championships twice. They also changed arenas and broke attendance records during the 2025-26 season.

The Razorbacks earned 30 All-American honors and 40 All-SEC selections with Wieber as head coach. She led them to their top-10 scores in history, including the 198.1 against Nebraska in 2024.

Chris Brooks will succeed his wife Jordyn Wieber at the Arkansas Gymnastics

Chris Brooks has been part of the Arkansas Razorbacks ever since his wife Jordyn Wieber became head coach. In the last seven years, he has worked as the primary coach for uneven bars and assisted with vault at the Razorbacks.

Brooks was instrumental in helping the program achieve eight of the 13 best scores in uneven bars.

“I would like to thank Hunter Yurachek and the University of Arkansas Athletics Department for the incredible opportunity to lead this program. I am grateful for the foundation that Jordyn has helped build over the last seven seasons." the press release from Arkansas read.

“We will continue with the same heart, soul, and vision for the program. The next chapter is an exciting one for my family and for the Gymbacks, and I’m excited to get going. Wooo Pig!” added Brooks.
