Gymnastics stars Katelyn Ohashi and Simone Biles had a chance to reunite over this weekend, involving almost the whole gymnastics royalty. And the venue was Madison Kocian’s wedding.
The 2016 Rio Olympic gold and silver medalist tied the knot with Jack Hughes, among a star-studded guest list that included both Biles and Aly Raisman. And Ohashi shared the highlights on Instagram.
“Wedding weekends and soul sisters, congrats @madison_kocian and @jack._hughes! What a beautiful day!” her caption read, as she posted several group, duo and individual photos.
The “soul sisters” basically included several of Ohashi's UCLA Bruins teammates, including Macy Toronjo, Karli Dugas, Felicia Hano, etc., as well as Biles. The ladies also replied to Ohashi’s post with heartfelt comments.
Ohashi and Biles were teammates at the USA Gymnastics junior national team for four years, and later competed against each other on elite circuits. While Kocian, Raisman and Biles were part of the “Final Five” at the Rio Games, and won 9 Olympic medals.
The group spent the weekend, which looked less like a wedding and more like a reunion. However, it wasn’t just Ohashi who posted the reunion photos.
Madison Kocian’s Heartfelt Post
While it is natural for the bride to celebrate and rejoice on her day, Kocian’s wedding post wasn’t just about the ceremony. It included her UCLA family and her friends with whom she spent the weekend.
“It was so special having all my friends in one place,” she captioned her post. “I feel so incredibly thankful for these girls for loving me and supporting me. So many memories made this weekend.”
She has now long transitioned from gymnastics into healthcare and other ventures. However, the wedding photos surely were more like a nostalgic trip to the past, when they wrote history on the mats.
With that being said, which athlete do you think will be next to walk down the aisle? Let us know in the comments.
