Olympic champion Laurie Hernandez posted a birthday tribute for girlfriend Charlotte Drury. The U.S. trampoline gymnast turned 30 on June 4.

Hernandez posted a photo dump on Instagram to celebrate the milestone, sharing multiple glimpses from their relationship. Drury expressed her appreciation in the comment section.

"30 looks INCREDIBLE on you. happy birthday baby," Hernandez captioned the post.

The birthday tribute comes at a time when both have established their lives outside of sports. The couple stand out as a unique pair, both coming from sports backgrounds. Hernandez was an artistic gymnast, while Drury plied her trade on the trampoline.

Hernandez was a part of the Final Five at the Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman and Madison Kocian. She won team gold and individual silver on the balance beam.

Meanwhile, Drury was the first U.S. gymnast to secure the World Cup gold medal in trampoline in 2014. She also served as an alternate at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The sports understanding between the couple has shaped their bond. Both retired from competitive gymnastics in 2021. The couple confirmed their relationship after Hernandez celebrated their first anniversary in 2021 on Instagram, as per US Weekly.

Hernandez graduated from Tisch School of the Arts in New York this May with a degree in drama and creative writing, and Drury graduated from the International Centre of Photography in 2023.

In a conversation with US Weekly, Hernandez reflected on their bond and transition from sport.

"Both of us kind of eased out of sports. We moved to New York and then got into the arts. It's just nice for us to have the chance to explore what else outside of sports we might be into and test out all these different waters," she said.

The recent birthday post captures exactly how the two athletes are building their lives together in the art industry.

Laurie Hernandez Steps into Broadway

Hernandez, a gold medalist at the Rio Olympics 2016, always had a plan after a gymnastics career. In March 2026, the former gymnast made her debut as a dancer for the role of Charmion in the & Juliet at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in New York City.

Hernandez's athletic background helped her a lot during the rehearsals. The intense training, including choreography and singing simultaneously, was tough.

"I think that might be the athlete in me that's like, I'm going to figure it out no matter what it is," she told Olympics.com. "Even if it's hard, I'll figure it out."

The opening act captivated the audience. As confetti descended onto the stage, Hernandez recounted a moment from her gymnastics career.

"I had immediately thought of Olympic trials when all the confetti comes down," she said. "There's a feeling of pride, and I made it."

For Hernandez, Broadway fulfilled a missing aspect after her gymnastics career. She felt a sense of belonging in the group.

"I'm a part of a unit while I'm out there on stage and that feels nice. I'm never floating alone out there," she said.

The shift from solo rider to ensemble performance came with a lot of demands. Pushing her body for eight shows in a week was tough, but her gymnastics background served as a boon.

"I'm so grateful I know how to warm up properly and cool down, " said Hernandez.

Along with Broadway, she is a New York Times bestselling author. The Olympic champion has just started her new chapter and already amassed multiple milestones.
