Olivia Dunne, the former LSU gymnast and one of the most-followed former college athletes on social media, has been dating Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes for more than two years now. Known for regularly supporting her boyfriend, Dunne recently took to social media with an interesting post about him.

On June 10, the former gymnast reposted a post by MLB featuring Skenes and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Shohei Ohtani. But Dunne came up with her own take on her Instagram story.

The league shared the post highlighting the matchup between the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner and the reigning NL MVP. Dunne reshared it, adding an "Absolute Cinema" sticker, showing her support for her partner.

“Absolute Cinema,” a reaction image originally featuring film director Martin Scorsese with his hands raised. The captioned phrase was instead adapted to include Dunne and Skenes.

As the Pirates won 9-8 against the Dodgers on June 10, the post showed how the match was a direct advantage for Skenes when playing against Ohtani. The Dodgers' player went 0-for-3 vs. Pirates ace Skenes. The fact that it was thrilling to hold a lead reflects in Dunne's post.

Dunne has held a consistent presence throughout Skenes' rise. She attended the Pirates games at home and outside in both of Skenes' MLB seasons.

Even during the 2026 World Baseball Classic, she went to watch Skenes pitch to Team USA in an intense semifinal against the Dominican Republic. She also posted a video of herself watching the tough play and captioned that she was "not cut out for this." 

Dunne has competed as a gymnast for LSU for about five seasons. After leading the program to its first NCAA National Championship, she now steps into a new phase.

Skenes Continues Strong Season as Dunne Adjusts to Life After Gymnastics

Facing the two-time defending World Series champions, Skenes held them to two runs across six innings while striking out seven, though the Pirates’ bullpen allowed 10 runs in a 12–3 loss at PNC Park on Tuesday, June 9.

Skenes took the mound Tuesday following what was considered a rough patch for him. He hadn’t earned a win since May 12, even as his ERA stayed at 2.83.

Meanwhile, away from gymnastics, Dunne, too, has opened a new chapter after the end of her gymnastics career at LSU. After becoming one of the most recognizable athletes in college sports, she moved towards working with business ventures, brand partnerships, and content creation.

Back in March, she stepped into a new venture. The former national championship-winning LSU gymnast landed a role in Fox’s Baywatch reboot. She got the role of a “highly enthusiastic junior lifeguard” named Grace.

As Skenes continues to establish himself among the top contenders, Dunne has successfully established her post-gymnastics career, with both equally supporting each other.
