After finishing her freshman season at Michigan State, the Romanian Olympian, Lilia Cosman, is set to join the Nebraska Huskers for the upcoming season.

Cosman, after a short season with Michigan State, took to Instagram on May 31 and updated her followers about her decision to join the Nebraska Huskers in the upcoming season.

The caption to her post read, “After a long and difficult decision, I am so excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Nebraska!”

The major announcement shows how she is looking for a better opportunity to gain more experience in her collegiate career and found the Huskers as the perfect option.

Speaking about her transition, Cosman also said, “I want to take a moment to thank Michigan State for an unforgettable chapter of my life. I am forever grateful for everything that came from being a Spartan.”

Although she had joined Michigan in the 2025 fall, she looks back at her brief but impactful time as a Spartan, expressing her deep appreciation for the program. She had trained under the guidance of MSU Head Coach Mike Rowe during her freshman season.

Lilia looks forward to her future with Nebraska and adds, “I am incredibly grateful for the chance to continue pursuing my academic and athletic goals at such an amazing university.”

Crediting her biggest support system, she stated, “Most importantly, thank you to my family, friends, teammates, and everyone who has supported me throughout this journey.”

Cosman was the daughter of Romanian immigrants who moved to the USA in 2001. She was a part of the Romanian team in the 2024 Paris Games, marking the country's first appearance since 2012.

As she prepares to join Nebraska’s gymnastics program, the destination has already become the prime spot for top talent to transfer. Her elite experience will definitely add valuable expertise and will help the team to achieve championship goals.

Lilia Cosman is a Romanian-American gymnast who established herself as the National champion in 2022 on uneven bars. She joined the Romanian team at the 2024 Olympics, where the team finished seventh overall.

Her international career started with the 2023 World Championship, where she helped Romania finish tenth. This was monumental as it helped the team secure a spot for the Olympics in 2024.

At the European Championships in 2024, in the individual category, she finished eighth in the all-around category, while on balance beam, she was placed fourth.
