Following the heartbreaking incident at the Lynx Gymnastics Centre in May, Olympic medalists Jessica and Jennifer Gadirova finally came up with a relieving update.

The training facility in Aylesbury, England, had been destroyed by fire on May 7. However, the Gadirova twins were quick to ask for support. And through an Instagram post on June 9, they shared the current progress.

“We have been so lucky with the amount of support so many people have given,” they stated. “From gymnastic clubs who have generously offered their facilities for us to continue our training, to companies who have kindly helped to replace equipment that got destroyed…”

The gym launched a fundraiser in May, amplified by media coverage and social-media campaigns. The twins, who grew up training at Lynx for nearly 10 years and won bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Games, also issued their statements.

"We are reaching out to plead for as much help as possible during this devastating time,” they stated, per BBC. “Whether that is through sharing our message, offering support in any way you can, or contributing to future fundraising and rebuilding efforts that will help us get back on our feet.”

The community response has already borne fruit. However, there are still major works to be done.

Twins Vow to Keep Fighting Despite Slow Rebuilding Progress

Other than the positive update, in the video, the twins also highlighted that the building still requires progress, but they’ll support their faculty till the end.

“Unfortunately, at this moment in time, there has been no progress with the building,” they stated. “However, we are going to keep fighting for this club and its future. Every donation, share and message of support continues to make a difference, so thank you for standing with Lynx.”

While progress may be slow, the gymnastics community's solidarity and support have already shown results. And with time, surely the Gadirova twins and others will be able to return to their beloved facility.
