American gymnast Simone Biles took to her social media to reveal a serious health issue she faced earlier this week. Her Instagram story gave fans a peek into the health scare that Biles experienced.

The 29-year-old shared an Instagram story on Saturday, June 6, featuring a photo of her arm with patient identification wristbands. She described it as "one of, if not the scariest experiences of [her] life."

“I'm not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today's age, but almost dying wasn't on my bingo card earlier this week,” wrote Biles on Instagram.

She also wrote that it was worse since she did not have her husband by her side. NFL’s Indianapolis Colts safetyman Jonathan Owens was away from home, practicing in Indy during the ongoing offseason.

Notably, Owens is currently signed to the Colts. It had prompted Biles, at the time, to feel excited about calling Indy home for another year.

She promised fans an explanation in the same story.

“I've been in bed resting this week, I'll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers. Loooovveeee y'all,” Biles concluded her Instagram story.

Sometime later, she posted a couple of stories on Instagram featuring photos of flower bouquets in glass vases on her home’s counter.

In the fourth and final Instagram story about the situation, Biles posted a picture of herself lying in bed with her two dogs, captioning it, “I’ll be here.”

It also had a screenshot of her live heart rate at 126 bpm.

The cryptic stories left fans wondering if this had anything to do with her struggles in early 2026.

Simone Biles Spoke About Being in Therapy Earlier This Year

Simone Biles is currently on an extended sabbatical after last competing with Team USA at the Paris Olympics in 2024. She decided to focus on her health and well-being, both mentally and physically.

Biles had taken a mental health break first during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, and she battles on to this day.

In an interview at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid on April 29, 2026, the seven-time Olympic gold medalist admitted to being in therapy.

“I feel like it showed the realness to me because everyone thought I was a robot, she’s not real, but it’s like, down to the core, I’m just like you guys. I’m real,” Biles said in her chat with Amanda Davies of CNN Sports.

“It got me the therapy that I deserved, and I’m still currently in therapy.”

While Biles hasn’t confirmed if or when she will return to elite gymnastics, the American gymnast has never ruled it out.
