Simone Biles Fans Debate LA 2028 Chances Amid Concerns Over Mental Grind and Olympic Comeback

Discussion of the 2028 LA Olympics has returned the focus to Simone Biles once again. And this time, the fans had much to debate on.

The 2024 Paris Olympics recorded Biles’ last professional performance as she returned with 3 golds and 1 silver. The mats remained untouched ever since, but the history’s most decorated gymnast hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a return.

“I feel like we’re still at a 50-50 and that we’re still on a time crunch here now, it’s almost half of 2026,” she told CNN Sports in April. “We’re going to have to make these decisions pretty quickly… Mental health plays a big role in it because, physically, my coaches will get me in shape.”

Mental health was the reason why Biles withdrew from several individual events at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Amidst the backlash and criticism that followed, she still secured a team silver and an individual bronze in the beam.

But she returned to Paris in full flair, winning gold in the team event, all-around, vault and a silver in floor exercise. And despite a career of 11 Olympic medals across three Games, a fourth seems doable to many.

And so, the fans took it to the socials, discussing how Biles can, will or should return for her fourth Olympic game: the 2028 LA Olympics.

Fans Debated on Simone Biles’ Olympic Comeback

This year, the 29-year-old told CNN Sports that she is healthy and can get herself back in shape. And a lot of fans had the same belief, stating that Biles can easily make a comeback in 2028, given her caliber.

“A year of solid training and she’d likely be the favorite for the title again with her determination, skills and talent,” wrote one. Another echoed, “Of course, she is already training for an AA performance. USA would never let go of the chance to have the GOAT winning everything AT HOME.”

However, some fans stated that it’d make more sense for Biles to compete as a specialist and solely compete on one specific apparatus, as Japanese gymnastics icon Kohei Uchimura did in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“I feel like she would maybe compete as a specialist, like Kohei Uchimura did in his last Olympics,” wrote one. Another added, “Right now, I can't see it. Maybe as a vault and floor specialist? But, whatever she decides, she will forever be beloved.”

But amidst the hopeful speculations, some fans also stated that Simone Biles is enjoying her life and wouldn’t want to strain her mental health. So, a return is probably a closed deal.

“She’s enjoying her time. She doesn’t have an ego to go back again. Her mental health is more important than giving everyone what they want and sacrifice her success thus far,” they wrote.

However, one point remained clear. If Biles competes again, there’ll be a massive crowd to celebrate her swan song.
