Gymnastics icon Simone Biles’ latest revelation couldn’t have been any more surprising, which quickly hushed down all the 2028 LA Olympics comeback talks.

After making history with 11 Olympic and 30 World Championship medals, Biles rarely has anything to look back on. And elongating the list by competing in her fourth Olympics isn’t really the dream she wants to fulfill.

“Have children and start a big family with my husband,” she revealed in a recent interview with EL PAÍS' Daniel Arribas. “I’m proud to be married, to spend time with my husband… Those are things I couldn’t do before when I was training. My life has changed.”

The 2024 Paris Olympics recorded Biles’ last professional performance, as she won 3 golds and one silver. But returning to the hard, competitive atmosphere of the Olympics isn’t something she’s considering currently.

Biles also expanded her business portfolio in March by opening her first restaurant, Taste of Gold, at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston. So, visibly, Biles is focused on exploring life beyond the mats.

But this isn’t all. The most decorated gymnast in history gave further reason as to why the 2028 LA Olympics is a 50-50 for her.

Simone Biles Called the Olympic Comeback a “Huge Sacrifice”

In many instances, Biles expressed satisfaction with her accomplishments so far. To stick around for the LA Olympics, a 31-year-old Biles will have to endure physical pressure, which will be a “huge sacrifice."

“I’d say we’re still at about 50 percent,” she stated. “I think a home Olympic Games is motivation enough. But I feel our bodies are a bit like an hourglass that’s slowly running out. Right now, I’m 29… it would be a huge sacrifice to try to be in Los Angeles (at 31). We’ll have to see.”

To sum it all up, nothing is “as hard as competing at the Olympic Games” for Biles, who is satisfied with her achievements and is willing to extend her family. Nonetheless, her comeback will be as intriguing as it gets.
