The 2024 Paris Olympics memories are still fresh, and Simone Biles is already excited for the next Olympics. To be held in Los Angeles, the 2028 Olympics hold a lot of doubts about her participation. But Biles is already looking forward to the event because of the atmosphere.

In Madrid for the Laureus World Sport Awards, she introduced Nadia Comăneci ahead of her Lifetime Achievement honor. On the red carpet, Biles spoke about her excitement for a potential home Games, whatever role she might play.

“Obviously, the home country's hosting it, so it's going to be exciting,” she said. “I'm excited to see the Opening Ceremony, the Closing Ceremony, just seeing the atmosphere change.”

Following the conclusion of the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Olympic flag was handed over to Los Angeles, which will host the 2028 Games. It will be the United States’ fifth time hosting and Los Angeles’ third.

The 2028 Summer Olympics will bring the Games back to Los Angeles for the first time since 1984. Los Angeles was also a host city in 1932.

Hailing from Spring, Texas, the fact that Los Angeles is hosting the Olympics fills Biles with excitement.

Biles last competed at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she returned strongly to elite competition after her Tokyo break. In a demanding environment, she once again played an important role for Team USA, winning four medals in total, including three gold and one silver. 

However, lately she has kept herself at a distance from the Olympics. She claimed that after the 2024 Paris Games and the completion of her Gold Over America tour, her priorities have shifted outside the sport.

"I haven't even watched gymnastics," Biles said.

Even then, she is thoroughly excited about her home country hosting the 2028 Olympics. Her recent remarks now come at a time when speculation around a possible return is slowly beginning to surface again.

With LA 2028 coming closer, attention is slowly shifting to her next move.

What Comes Next for Simone Biles?

Over the past year, Biles has been focusing more on her personal life, especially supporting her husband, Jonathan Owens, in his NFL career. Yet she has stayed connected to the Olympic environment in different ways.

For instance, she made a visit to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games earlier this year, showing she still remains close to the sporting world. But concerns started looming about her participation in the 2028 Olympics.

Turning 31 by the time the 2028 Games begin is a major factor in Biles’ uncertainty, given the sport’s demands. She was already the oldest American gymnast in 72 years to compete at the Olympics when she participated in Paris at age 27.

“I’m still on the health and wellness journey,” Biles said on the Today Show in February. “Laurent [Landi, her coach] asks me all the time, and if I have to say anything, I’m just like ‘Give me a little bit more time to recover mentally, physically.’ "

Even with this break, keeping herself away, she has not made a final decision about LA 2028.
