USA Gymnastics Extends Its Strong Run as Claire Pease Captures Pan American Title

While the US Senior Women’s team has already posted itself as champion, 17-year-old gymnast Claire Pease came down with yet another victory at the 2026 Pan American Games in Rio.
“Claire Pease claimed the women's individual all-around title… on Friday, June 19,” explained Olympic.com’s Nick McCarvel. “The American teen held off teammate Charleigh Bullock, 15, as the U.S. women went one-two, with Pease's 54.498 just ahead of Bullock at 54.032.”
This victory followed Team USA’s gold-winning run on June 17, when the combined effort of Bullock, Pease and Simone Rose seized a total score of 161.628. This secured their first-class entry to the upcoming 2026 World Championship.
The Pan Am serves as the qualifier for the 2026 Worlds, set for 17–25 October in Rotterdam, Netherlands, as well as the 2027 Pan American Games. And Pease’s latest victory only made a stronger case for Team USA as a formidable force.
The 17-year-old gymnast will also be competing in three more individual apparatus finals: the vault, the uneven bars, and the floor exercise. All of these events are scheduled for Sunday, June 21, along with the senior men’s finals.
While Pease has successfully solidified the USA’s championship status, the path to victory wasn’t easy.
The Road to Rotterdam Was Filled With Setbacks and Strength
Led by the 2024 Olympian Hezly Rivera, the team witnessed Rivera’s withdrawal after a lackluster vault performance due to a sore hamstring. Newcomer Lila Richardson also withdrew after hitting her face on the uneven bars.
However, the team stayed focused, proving their resilience and teamwork under pressure. And the 2008 Olympic silver medallist Chellsie Memmel, part of the U.S. women's team leadership group, applauded these athletes on her social media.
“So incredibly proud of this team and the way they competed today," she said. “Throughout warm-up and competition, they faced a lot of adversity. Despite the challenges, they stayed composed and supported one another.”
